Abstract

Our article seeks to understand the discourse promoted by the Campo Grande News website about human rights, focusing on three subthemes: women, indigenous peoples, children and adolescents. We surveyed the publications from January 1 to December 31, 2016 and selected a set of texts to analyze the discourse, considering elements such as lexical items, argumentative techniques and the effects of heterogeneity and silencing. Thus, we identified that the articles analyzed in Campo Grande News were based only on the episodic and superficial coverage of the cases, failing to offer the public the information necessary for a thorough reflection on human rights.
