BUTLER’S BLACKBOARD: notes about the insertion of gender studies in journalism education

Abstract

This article presents some comments about the insertion of gender studies in the teaching of Journalism. The aspects that will be prioritized in this reflection is how the epistemological turn stemming from studies of women, feminisms and LGBT movements in the second half of the twentieth century has spread to communication, media and journalism studies, and nowadays be interpreted as part of the knowledge necessary for the constitution of more sensitive journalists, who are more open to complex and plural narratives in voices, senses and experiences. For this, we will analyze the disciplines program devoted to the relations between gender studies, media, and journalism offered as optional content to journalism students in four Brazilian public universities.
