Abstract

The following review addresses the book Ombudsman in Brazilian Journalism (2018, Insular), organized by journalists and professors Elaine Javorski and Sérgio Gadini. Thirty years after the first experience of journalistic criticism in periodicals in Brazil, the book compiles stories that touch the trajectory of those who performed the role of ombudsman in the country's newspapers, exposing their characteristics, experiences and challenges. Thus, the work materializes as a rich reference material regarding the debate on media criticism while also developing theoretical and conceptual notions for the academic debate on ombudsman activity.
