Abstract

Based on an exhaustive reconstruction of Antón Chekhov's main plays, we seek in this article to think of two essential notions for playwrights: dramatic condensation and accumulation. After thinking about a dialectic between dissociation and condensation, we analyze Tío Vania and the later works, showing how Chekhov elaborated from the rewriting of Fauno and La Gaviota an economy of characters, links and dramatic situations of accumulation from more sophisticated condensations in the stories.
