ANÁLISE DO RELEVO A PARTIR DE IMAGENS SRTM DA PORÇÃO OESTE DA BACIA HIDROGRÁFICA DO RIO GUARIBAS, SEMIÁRIDO PIAUIENSE

Abstract

This work aimed to analyze, based on SRTM images, the geomorphological aspects of the western portion of the Guaribas river hydrographic basin. With a territorial extension of approximately 2,285.06 km², the research area is fully inserted in the northeastern semiarid, located in the southeast region of the state of Piauí. For the development of this research, a bibliographic survey, geoprocessing techniques and remote sensing were performed using ArcGis, in addition to field inspections. It was found from the mapping procedures that the POBHG has high altitudes, characterized by an altimetric amplitude between 170 and 720 meters, and a slope with a predominance of flat and soft wavy relief. Geoprocessing techniques were essential tools to enable the understanding of the characteristics of POBHG relief. Therefore, the analysis of geomorphological aspects includes a process of great importance in the understanding of a given geographical space, thus it provides subsidies for environmental planning.
