The municipality of Apodi is located in the western mesoregion of the state of Rio Grande do Norte. It has an ancient formation that dates back to the year 1800. In the municipality there is the agroecological production of the more than 50 communities that inhabit the municipality, and their way of life, which denotes the community’s bond with the land in a coexistence that is as harmonious as possible. Apodiense families have in their history the process of fighting to enter and remain on the land since the 1990s. However, this process takes on new contours with the construction of the Santa Cruz Apodi Irrigated Perimeter, wich attracted numerous agribusiness companies to the region. It is in this context that this research is developed, seeking to highlight the advancement of agribussiness to the detriment of local communities, where thw development of two rationalities becomes unfeasible; capitalist agriculture anda peasant agrriculture.
