In face of the intense occupation process that demands and imposes the intensification of land use, landscape compartmentalization emerges as an important instrument for territorial planning. Therefore, the objective of the research was to compartmentalize the Piracanjuba River Watershed, which, being located in the Cerrado biome, represents the constant anthropogenic modifications involving the gradual replacement of pasture areas by predominantly extensive and irrigated agriculture. The methodological procedures involved the analysis of the watershed at a regional scale, considering the interrelations between the components involved in the landscape formation process. Thus, in a GIS environment, variables of pre-selected relief aspects were integrated, intervals of reclassification were defined, and subsequent analysis of other geoecological aspects was defined. Seven relief units were identified in the landscape, highlighting the heterogeneity of the mosaic, the extensive land use, and the fragility of the physiographic aspects of the units, requiring special attention regarding interventions for land use. The obtained results represent significant contributions to environmental planning, providing essential information that facilitates the understanding of the region and, consequently, constitute valuable instruments for decision-making and the implementation of integrated actions in watershed management.
