Abstract

This article explores the predominance of the neoliberal ideology as a normative practice of social life under the lens of Economic Sociology. In this context, the study aimed at analyzing the transition of the Brazilian entrepreneurial profiles presented by magazine Pequenas Empresas Grandes Negócios. The methodology consisted of a documental descriptive research, based on selected issues of the aforementioned magazine in the period between the early 1990s and early 20102. The categories of analysis were elaborated inductively, after the study of the structure and content of the magazine in two steps: the first one, aimed at the images, by observing the magazine covers, with focus on categories such as gender, age, and dressing; and the second one, with focus on the summaries of the issues and the content of the cover stories. The analysis shows that the magazine transitioned from a focus on stories about specific business to stories related to values and behaviors.
