Abstract

This article examines the Brazilian scientific production on youth in the SciELO platform from 2001 to 2019 by means of an integrative review. The study aims to identify the research areas and themes addressed in this field. The results reveal that the discussion on youth in Brazil is divided into two main perspectives: youth as creative political agents and youth as a social problem to be addressed. The influence of cultural industry and social control on young people is highlighted, as well as the relationship between youth and political participation. The importance of considering young people as autonomous political agents is emphasized. The study points out the need for a comprehensive and complex understanding of youth, avoiding reductionist views and promoting more comprehensive approaches in public policies and academic research.
