Abstract

The objective of the present work is to investigate the relations between culpability end human values. A sample of the 266 university students from a public university in Campina Grande - PB, with an average of 22.1 years of age and from both sexes, participated in it. The instruments used were the Guilt Feeling Questionnaire, and the Basic Values Questionnaire. The results pointed to an expressive association between basic human values and culpability (guilt), specifically regarding the values of tradition and obedience. This demonstrates a higher sensitivity by the religious subjects and/or subjects most bound to tradition and the social standards before guilt. These results suggest that the values exercise an important influence in the perception of guilt of the academic students.
