The speech “The Early Literature of the North - Iceland,” delivered by William Morris (1834-1896) on October 9, 1887, at a meeting sponsored by the Hammersmith branch of the Socialist League is here presented and translated into Portuguese with the main objective of popularizing the work of the Victorian artist within a Lusophone context, thereby highlighting his profound dedication to the revival of Old Norse-Icelandic Literature, and of medieval culture in general, in English art and literature.
