Título: O corpo feminino na literatura africana de autoria feminina

O dossiê O corpo feminino na literatura africana de autoria feminina tem como objetivo a divulgação de artigos de pesquisadoras(es) brasileiras(os) ou estrangeiras(os) que se debruçam sobre a produção literária de autoras provenientes de países africanos. Desse modo, propõe-se a divulgar as discussões feitas acerca do corpo feminino africano, sob a égide dos estudos pós-coloniais, decoloniais, de gênero, interseccionalidade, violências, traumas e sexualidades, não sendo restrito apenas a eles. Serão acolhidos textos que discutam temáticas relevantes ao corpo feminino, nas obras literárias, a fim de agregar e divulgar as produções e debates a respeito do tema em diferentes línguas (português, francês, inglês e espanhol) no continente africano e/ou fora dele. Também serão aceitos trabalhos que dialogam com o ensino de literatura feminina nas escolas e universidades, bem como as abordagens sobre as múltiplas facetas da mulher na literatura; e trabalhos que estejam em diálogo com as literaturas de outros espaços, em especial aquelas que privilegiam as relações Sul-Sul.

Titre: Le corps féminin dans la littérature africaine

Le dossier Le corps féminin dans la littérature africaine écrit par des femmes a pour objectif de diffuser des articles de chercheurs brésiliens ou étrangers qui s’intéressent à la production littéraire d’auteurs de pays africains. De cette manière, il propose de diffuser les discussions faites sur le corps féminin africaine, sous l’égide du postcolonial, du décolonial, du genre, de l’intersectionnalité, de la violence, des traumatismes et des sexualités, en ne se limitant pas à eux seuls. Les textes qui abordent des thèmes pertinents pour le corps féminin dans les œuvres littéraires seront les bienvenus, afin d’agréger et de diffuser des productions et des débats sur le sujet dans différentes langues (portugais, français, anglais et espagnol) sur le continent africain et/ou au-delà. Les œuvres qui dialoguent avec l’enseignement de la littérature féminine dans les écoles et les universités seront également acceptées, ainsi que les approches des multiples facettes des femmes dans la littérature; et des œuvres qui dialoguent avec les littératures d’autres espaces, en particulier celles qui privilégient les relations Sud-Sud.

Title: The female body in African literature by women

The dossier The female body in African literature by women aims to disseminate articles by Brazilian or foreign researchers who focus on the literary production of authors from African countries. In this way, it proposes to disseminate the discussions made about the African female body, under the aegis of postcolonial, decolonial, gender, intersectionality, violence, traumas and sexualities, not being restricted only to them. Works that dialogue with the teaching of women's literature in schools and universities will also be accepted, as well as approaches to the multiple facets of women in literature; and works that are in dialogue with the literatures of other spaces, especially those that privilege South-South relations.

Título: Modalidades, materialidades e condições de circulação e de transferências culturais das literaturas

Busca-se, com este dossiê, trazer à luz as atuais reflexões em pesquisas na interface interdisciplinar da sociologia da cultura, da análise quantitativa e qualitativa de processos de transferências culturais e modalidades de circulação das literaturas, levando também em consideração acervos físicos e digitais, catálogos, estudos bibliográficos e repertórios no âmbito tanto nacional quanto latino-americano e transatlântico.

A proposta está centrada na reflexão e na releitura de momentos da História literária brasileira, em um contexto transnacional e globalizado. O enfoque recairá sobre análises quantitativas e estudos qualitativos sobre os principais atores individuais e institucionais das transferências culturais transatlânticas e os processos de transferência e circulação de textos e livros em língua estrangeira, com o objetivo de analisar a extensão, as variações e as modalidades temporais, espaciais e sociais desses processos. Dentro desse recorte, será dado especial interesse à sociologia da cultura para compreender o papel de tradutores e tradutoras, editores e editoras, do meio literário e jornalístico, bem como das instituições acadêmicas, político-culturais e econômicas como mediadores das transferências e circulações literárias.

A partir dessa contextualização, que se baseia nos conceitos teórico-metodológicos interdisciplinares de transferência cultural (Espagne, 2009; Charle, Lüsebrink, Mix, 2017; Jorgensen, Lüsebrink, 2021) e de circulação (Bourdieu, 2002; Casanova, 1999; Sapiro, 2012), serão aceitas contribuições envolvendo estudos de caso e análises quantitativas e qualitativas. Serão igualmente bem-vindas contribuições que combinem ou discutam os conceitos teórico-metodológicos acima referidos e suas articulações com outros métodos advindos, por exemplo, dos Estudos da Tradução, da Sociologia, da Antropologia, da Etnologia ou da História da Arte, envolvendo por vezes questões políticas, dilemas ou (des-)construções.

Essas amplas perspectivas e abordagens propostas pretendem revelar a visualização e a problematização dos complexos entrelaçamentos e hibridações nas histórias da literatura e da tradução, e nas condições culturais/sociológicas de literaturas em língua estrangeira.

Titre : Modalités, matérialités et conditions de circulation et de transferts culturels des littératures

Ce dossier vise à mettre en lumière les réflexions issues des recherche actuelles à l'interface interdisciplinaire de la sociologie de la culture, de l'analyse quantitative et qualitative des processus de transfert culturel et des modalités de circulation des littératures, en prenant également en considération les collections physiques et numériques, les catalogues, les études bibliographiques et les répertoires aux niveaux national, latino-américain et transatlantique.

La proposition est centrée sur la réflexion et la relecture de moments de l'histoire littéraire brésilienne dans un contexte transnational et mondialisé. L'accent sera mis sur des analyses quantitatives et des études qualitatives portant sur les principaux acteurs individuels et institutionnels des transferts culturels transatlantiques et des processus de transfert et de circulation des textes et des livres en langues étrangères, afin d'analyser l'ampleur, les variations et les modalités temporelles, spatiales et sociales de ces processus. Dans ce cadre, un intérêt particulier sera accordé à la sociologie de la culture afin de comprendre le rôle des traducteurs, des éditeurs et des rédacteurs, du milieu littéraire et journalistique, ainsi que des institutions académiques, politico-culturelles et économiques en tant que médiateurs des transferts et des circulations littéraires.

A partir de cette contextualisation, qui s'appuie sur les concepts théorico-méthodologiques interdisciplinaires de transfert culturel (Espagne, 2009 ; Charle, Lüsebrink, Mix, 2017 ; Jorgensen, Lüsebrink, 2021) et de circulation (Bourdieu, 2002 ; Casanova, 1999 ; Sapiro, 2012), les contributions impliquant des études de cas et des analyses quantitatives et qualitatives seront acceptées. Title: Modalities, materialities and conditions of circulation and cultural transfers of literatures

This dossier seeks to bring to light current research reflections at the interface of quantitative and qualitative analysis of modalities and materialities in the processes of cultural transfers, circulation and sociology of culture, also taking into consideration physical and digital collections, catalogues, bibliographic studies and repertoires in the national, Latin American and transatlantic sphere.

This dossier focuses on the reflection and re-reading of moments in Brazilian literary history in a transnational and globalized context. The focus will be on quantitative analyses and qualitative studies on the main individual and institutional actors of cultural transfers and the processes of transfer and circulation of texts and books in foreign languages, with the aim of analyzing the extent, variations and temporal, spatial and social modalities of these processes. Within this framework, special interest will be given to the sociology of culture in order to understand the role of translators, editors, publishers, the literary and journalistic milieu, as well as academic, political-cultural and economic institutions as mediators of transfers and literary circulations.

From this contextualization, which draws on the interdisciplinary theoretical-methodological concepts of cultural transfer (Espagne, 2009; Charle, Lüsebrink, Mix, 2017; Jorgensen, Lüsebrink, 2021) and circulation (Bourdieu, 2002; Casanova, 1999; Sapiro, 2012), contributions involving case studies and quantitative and qualitative analyses will be accepted. Contributions combining or discussing the above-mentioned theoretical-methodological concepts and their articulations with other methods coming, for instance, from Translation Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Ethnology or Art History, sometimes involving political issues, dilemmas or (de-)constructions, will also be welcome.

These broad perspectives and proposed approaches aim to reveal the visualization and problematization of complex entanglements and hybridizations in the histories of literature and translation, and in the cultural/sociological conditions of foreign language literatures.

Graphos welcomes submission for a thematic issue on the literature of the Southern Cone – Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile – addressing authoritarianism and its connections with other totalitarian discourses in essay and in fiction. We will be accepting papers dealing both with the diverse ways state-nations with strong authoritarian evolution have approached aesthetically the exercise of writing, as well as articles that are divergent or opposed to them. Thus, we welcome studies centered in aesthetic forms, focusing on their authoritative nature or aimed at strengthening collective memory and culture democratization, either demystifying or allowing space to the expansion of individual conscience and to social mobilization. Historic and social science essays addressing the imagery strategies used by the heritage of authoritarianism and making procedures utilized in the democratization process visible may be submitted. Examples include the role of publicity in the formation and consolidation of a civil society model; and aesthetic and ideological criteria supporting the formulation of a new literary canon and its diffusion both in the media and in the education system curricula. Furthermore, the review of authoritarianism in the belles lettres through national literatures critical histories and through editorial consecration actions, both permissive and critical with totalitarian regimes’ legal and economic guidelines, highlighting reader formation policies.

CHAMADA ENCERRADA: Call for Papers, Volume 24, no. 2, 2022. Dossier The obscured, neglected or ignored in modern Brazilian literature - CLOSED

As the Brazilian modernization process is invariably controversial and diffuse, the idea of modernity is necessarily ambiguous, and, for the absence of greater historical precision, the Modern Art Week, held at the São Paulo Municipal Theater, has been chosen as its milestone. We are now celebrating its centennial and reviewing it as has widely been done. Without ignoring the relevance that this milestone acquired for our historiography, it is also important to highlight other voices in order to broadly rethink the consolidation of authors and works that have been relegated to a secondary plan or that, when considered, ended up being passed over as the bearers of illegitimate discourses.

This dossier, in line with the historical materiality of the artworks, should contemplate creations that were unwarranted or treated as unworthy of literary registry, due to their authorial quirks, their prevailing reading trends at the time of publication, their repercussions of authorial figures or even due to undefinable reasons. These are the obscured, neglected or ignored in modern Brazilian literature, who, despite not being treated as references, call for re-examination, which implies rethinking the reading parameters of modern works and perspectively dimensioning the invigorating stances of reception of our own literature.

CHAMADA ENCERRADA: Call for papers. Vol.24 n.1, 2022. Dossier Literary Translation: history, theory and criticism

Revista Graphos, a journal of Programa de Pós-graduação em Letras of Federal University of Paraíba, Brazil, invites researchers to submit their papers in the dossier Literary Translation: history, theory and criticism for publication in volume 24, number 1, 2022.

The debate on translation has always been present among us, dating back to Cicero (Sec I, BC). However, it is from the second half of the 20th century onwards that translation has emerged as a disciplinary field, with James Holmes' paper as one of its epistemological landmarks. In addition to defining Translation as an object of study, Holmes named the emerging field Translation Studies, which seems to have been accepted by the Brazilian academic community, although, to a lesser extent, the term Tradutology is also used. Holmes' mapping has been expanded, and we now have a vast academic production in the field, both in theoretical and applied terms, which led Echeverri (2017) to point to a new moment, which he named as the metaturn, that is, a moment of introspection in which the discipline looks at itself through mappings and reflection as a form of evaluation and planning.

Translation Studies, especially Literary Translation Studies, which is the focus of this dossier, has found fertile soil in Brazil and in other countries and so the Dossier Literary Translation: history, theory and criticism opens space for research that seeks to understand how translation of literary texts and Literary Translation Studies have been organized and that identify the critical and theoretical currents of literary translation, the agents - be them researchers, theoreticians, translators, publishers, funding agencies - , the norms that govern literary translation as well as the circulation of translated literary works. In short, the aim is to bring together mappings that contribute to the construction of the history of literary translation in Brazil (or in other countries) in order to guide future research and steps.
