Identidade, religião e o passado escravocrata: violências, estigmas e a descontrução cultural e identitária

Abstract

The affirmation of the Brazilian black identity takes place in different ways, also passing through the religious aspect. Africans enslaved in Brazil had their beliefs subjugated and attacked since the first groups that arrived in this territory. This article is about describing the different resources found by the blacks landed here, so that in their cultural and religious diversity, they could maintain their services. Religious racism is still present in the Brazilian reality. This article proposes a reflection on a process of abolition without planning, causing sequels in the construction of the identity of the Brazilian Black, a statement based on Abdias Nascimento and seeks to demystify the concept of racial democracy so revered by Brazilian society, but which in practice does not it served with a process of valorization of the Black and, yes, on the contrary, it had an even more discriminatory bias. The article also seeks to analyze nuances that may have a contribution to the construction of the Brazilian identity, based on theories of Antônio Gramsci. The prejudice surrounding religions of African origin, also known today with religious racism as they are religions that have their origin in a black population originally from the African continent, is the provocation presented in this article.
