Abstract

This paper analyzes the contribution of the Terreiros (Afro-Brazilian churches) to build an ideal of solidarity and citizenship initiatives, not necessarily related to the offers of magician-religious services. It recognizes the way that the Terreiro keeps the characteristics of a space of resistance, from the valuation of the its physical space, understood as a sacred space and a territory for the exercise of citizenship.
