This study proposes an innovative approach in the context of community libraries, focusing on the development of information literacy and the promotion of reading through gamification. The research is based on the Fé, Alegria e Esperança Community Library, part of the Fé e Alegria do Brasil Foundation, a reference facility for the Boa Esperança subdivision community in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. The library carries out several activities to promote reading and encourages the development of information literacy among users who participate in the institution's projects. Gamification, as the use of game elements in non-playful contexts, emerges as a strategy to increase the motivation and engagement of library users. Given the above, the research's general objective is to develop gamification strategies to promote information literacy in community libraries. The specific objectives were: to develop gamification models to develop gamified activities and their elements, and to develop and evaluate gamified activities that are appropriate for the library context. Methodological procedures related to exploratory, descriptive and applied research with an action research approach were used. The results presented are models of four gamified activities and the description and evaluation of the activities carried out. The activities proved to be effective in awakening interest in reading and searching for information, providing a more interactive and motivating environment.
Marciele Oliveira Nancy Sánchez Tarragó Copyright (c) 2025 Marciele Oliveira, Nancy Sánchez Tarragó 2025-01-28 2025-01-28 20 4 54 70 A atuação do Conselho Nacional de Arquivos na Implementação da Política Nacional de Arquivos https://periodicos.ufpb.br/ojs2/index.php/biblio/article/view/71741
Information is an element of value to society in general, access to which may be required at any time and for various reasons. The specific growth in the search for information in public bodies highlighted the need for greater participation of archivists in institutions, as well as the creation of mechanisms that manage and make available the information contained in archival documents produced and received by the public administration. One of these mechanisms is the National Archives Policy. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the performance of the National Council of Archives, the body responsible for defining the National Archives Policy, through its discussions on the topic in the context of plenary meetings. Methodologically, this is a study of a basic nature, exploratory and descriptive, carried out in a quanti-qualitative approach. From the point of view of technical procedures, it is characterized as documentary, as it analyzed a set of minutes produced by CONARQ from 2017 to 2023. The results show that despite the highly relevant actions and activities that the institution developed during this period, it did not define the national archives policy, as provided for in legislation.
Comprehensive Citizen Schools (ECI) in the state of Paraíba, reflecting a reality in the Paraíba State Department of Education, highlighting the existence of legislation that supports the professional and makes the presence of libraries mandatory in all educational institutions in Brazil. The absence of a public competition for librarians in Paraíba indicates an imbalance between legislation and practice, given the creation of the Integral Education Programme, which includes Integral Citizen Schools, as recommended by the New Secondary Education Law in the country. This is an exploratory study, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches, which made it possible to gather significant data on the shortage of these professionals in ECIs. The results indicate that this situation has a negative impact on the labour market and on students' educational training. The study reinforces the need for concrete action on the part of the competent authorities to bring the professional staff at ECIs into line with current legislation and contemporary educational requirements. It concludes that there is a lack of librarians in ICEs and no future prospects for changing this reality, making this issue visible in order to press for structural changes and effective public policies. The relevance of this topic lies in continuing to explore this issue and promoting dialogues aimed at raising awareness among the relevant authorities.
Jadylma Cleia Gomes de Andrade Ediane Toscano Galdino de Carvalho Genoveva Batista do Nascimento Edilene Toscano Galdino dos Santos Copyright (c) 2025 Jadylma Cleia Gomes de Andrade, Ediane Toscano Galdino de Carvalho, Genoveva Batista do Nascimento, Edilene Toscano Galdino dos Santos 2025-01-28 2025-01-28 20 4 86 102 Mediação da leitura literária na formação de leitores infantojuvenis https://periodicos.ufpb.br/ojs2/index.php/biblio/article/view/69843
This article focuses on the mediation of literary reading in the formation of children and adolescent readers in a school environment. Its general aim is to present reading mediation strategies that contribute to literary literacy. It starts from the premise that literary reading aims to contribute to the formation of readers, as it has rich resources that broaden their ability to conceive of the world. To this end, it investigates the role of the librarian and the teacher as mediators in children's literary education, as well as studying the school as a space for reading mediation. It falls within the areas of Literature, Pedagogy and Librarianship. This is a bibliographical study, as it considers the review of texts pertinent to the theme in focus. This act can be described as “hate speech”. In this work we lead a literature review of a qualitative nature about how hate speech is born and spread itself, in particular against the LGBTQIAPN+ community; where do the reasons to hate those people come from? What are the arguments used, from where they come from? And how? To answer those questions we had to look at concepts like “moral panic” and “misinformation”, at the same time we analyzed some public people known for producing and spreading hate speech, especially against queer people. We also took the time to collect, show and conduct an analysis of some comments made on social media by the followers of the people we introduced early on in the article. By this we want to make explicit what we have written before.
This integrative review addresses the importance of institutional repositories in the management of scientific in Health Sciences, highlighting their essential functions in organizing, preserving and disseminating academic and scientific knowledge in libraries and educational and research institutions in the health field. The research employed a mixed-method approach to map and categorize 556 records from the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), classifying them according to the authors' gender and the thematic areas addressed. The results reveal that although women represent around 30% of the total works in AI, there has been significant growth in female production since 2018. However, the research indicates that male dominance remains significant, especially in prestigious institutions such as the University of São Paulo (USP) and the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), highlighting the persistence of structural barriers. In addition to identifying these disparities, the study proposes the implementation of more assertive public policies and the creation of incentive programs to increase female participation in science and technology fields. It concludes that despite the observed advances, gender equity in AI research continues to face substantial challenges, requiring ongoing efforts to ensure truly inclusive and equitable technological development.
Leila Aparecida dos Santos Motta Cunha Ronaldo Ferreira de Araújo Copyright (c) 2025 Leila Aparecida dos Santos Motta Cunha, Ronaldo Ferreira de Araújo 2025-01-28 2025-01-28 20 4 20 28 Public libraries as information systems and their social function in the Anthropocene era https://periodicos.ufpb.br/ojs2/index.php/biblio/article/view/72230
Libraries as information systems generate services with the aim of enabling people to develop skills in the use of new technologies produced by the Technosphere in the era of the Anthropocene. However, excessive use can cause various stress-related issues, such as technostress, which may affect individuals' professional and personal lives. Given the scarcity of organized studies on technostress and work-family conflict, this systematic review aims to map out the research pathways and propose an agenda for future studies on these topics. The research findings identified pathways from 2021 to 2023, highlighting the profile of samples, authors, affiliations, and the most relevant journals. The conceptual framework revealed a relationship between technostress, satisfaction, and well-being, underscoring the role of support and supervision in reducing technology-induced stress and work-life conflict. The research agenda proposed themes such as psychological safety, Human Resources (HR) practices, and professional development and training. In conclusion, this relatively unexplored field deserves greater attention, especially given the rapid advancement of technology. It is hoped that technostress and work-family conflict will gain a prominent place in the research agenda of Management and Business Studies in Brazil, offering opportunities for theoretical and practical advancements in the field.
Julia Richter Michel Barboza Malheiros Roger da Silva Wegner Debora Bobsin Copyright (c) 2025 Julia Richter, Michel Barboza Malheiros, Roger da Silva Wegner, Debora Bobsin 2025-01-28 2025-01-28 20 4 39 53 Redefining the role of librarians in the job market: https://periodicos.ufpb.br/ojs2/index.php/biblio/article/view/70993
Librarians are professionals who can work in any environment where information is understood as the object of study.
