ESCAPE AO DESTINO SOCIAL

Resumo

Escapar ao destino social significa fugir ao que você estaria predestinado. Podemos dizer que os imigrantes escapam aos seus destinos sociais, uma vez que mudam do local de origem, onde nasceram, para uma nova localidade, para lá permanecer, ou não. Este artigo apresenta quatro perspectivas sobre deslocamentos (transnacionalismo, cosmopolistimo, migração internacional e migração por estilo de vida) na visão de seis estadunidenses e ingleses que tomaram João Pessoa, na Paraíba, como sua sociedade-lar. Nesse sentido, percebe-se como a migração não pode ser concebida como um conceito único e sim uma forma híbrida de mobilidade, especialmente quando é vista pelo viés do sujeito que desvia do padrão e segue sua motivação pessoal, se recriando e se reposicionando subjetivamente no globo.
