Resumo

The present paper approaches different topics related to the conventional concert format in the context of the Western musical canon as well as a number of values associated to it. Some postures around this subject are discussed, particularly those by Pierre Bourdieu, Christopher Small, Lydia Goehr, Nicholas Cook, Paulo de Assis and Omar Corrado, amongst others. Likewise, the paradigmatic differences between conventions associated to contemporary concert music and to sound art are dealt with, proposing some border crossings that could potentially allow more imaginative and collaborative ways of musical interaction between performers, repertoire and audiences.
