Abstract

The paper presents a study that focuses on the theme of coastal erosion on the beach of Ponta Negra, Natal-RN, consequences of this process and the measures taken to area management. The aim was to analyze the consequences of coastal erosion and concomitant outline measures taken to area management. The issue becomes relevant from the perspective that the coast lacks studies and is an area of instability, with the erosion incidents in the area establishes an ambient of great vulnerability. The coastal environment have the activities of agents of the continent-ocean and atmosphere that already justifies an environment of intense activity and change. The beach of Ponta Negra, known in our times passes by landscaped setting for a period of transformation of the landscape, there are changes driven by the energy of the ocean and found the interventions implemented by the management body of the place. Economic activities were affected, the landscape changed and urges a reflection of what society expects and what ever pondered the measures taken. To achieve our goals, we start from a theoretical, research work already done in the area of field phase (landscape analysis) and later systematized results. In this particular case, accelerated erosion, irregular uses of the boardwalk and the interventions of municipal management are identified. And it is concluded that long-term studies and in-depth must be made and these are the pillar that supports any intervention.
