Knowledge assumes an essential role in generating and adding value and managing this resource is an indispensable action for organizations. In this sense, Knowledge Management (KM) contributes to organizations transforming knowledge into greater productivity and value; in the public sector, it favors the increase of efficiency in the internal processes of organizations and generation of quality results. In this way, this article aims to diagnose the level of implementation and reach of KM practices related to human resources in prefectures located in the region of the Association of Municipalities of Setentrião Paranaense. The methodological procedure employed followed the steps that constitute t a Survey research. Data were collected through a questionnaire. Participants of the sample were managers of the Secretariats of Municipal Prefectures. Results, based on descriptive statistics techniques, have shown that municipalities have both the effective level of implementation and the low reach range for KM practices related to human resources. Thus, there were limitations on the part of city halls to create spaces for discussion and sharing of information, ideas and experiences, as well as a absence of informal and interdisciplinary groups of people interacting in order to generate learning, as well as the difficulty, on the part of its collaborators, in sharing knowledge. This research contributes to the verification of implications related to the presence and/or influence of KM practices on the scope of municipal public organizations, as well as in the discussion of forms and actions of human intellectual capital management in the public context.
