Abstract

The objective of the text is to propose some reading keys and respect a typology of workers, young cultural students residing in the Brazilian peripheries who, in our view, create a paradigmatic category to understand transformations occurred in the last decades in the world of work. Through the instruments of participant observation and oral history, we seek to understand the meanings that the actors construct about their practices. Going beyond the dichotomous readings, we are interested in understanding how precarious work with “art and culture” can be considered as a possibility of overcoming the bonds of dependent work and affirming the will to work by mobilizing desires and mixing work, militancy and leisure.
