Abstract

Wage disparity and occupational segregation are characteristic phenomena of gender relations in the history of Brazilian society and the world. Thus, the study deals with the questioning of the following question: what explains the permanence of the wage disparity and female occupational segregation in Brazilian society, despite the constitutional advances? In order to answer, the deductive approach was used as a methodological resource, based on bibliographic research, based on the principles protected by Human Rights and the sociological discussion on gender. In turn, the overall objective was to analyze the problems faced by women in the labor market, who often seek through it, a form of empowerment and autonomy. Therefore, the article is of great relevance for allowing debates on the theme, in addition to contributing to the literature on gender and human rights, as well as in promoting the creation of public policies and monitoring projects, which aim to promote at least equity so that once effectiveness is achieved.
