Journal History

This journal was founded in 2002 by Professor Fredys Sorto. In the beginning Fredys Sorto idealized a journal just for giving to Graduate Students a broader opportunity to share their researches. Therefore the main goal was offering an editorial space for new experiences in law studies undertaken by young scholars. When the first edition came into view, it was clear that experienced researchers and young scholars had been collaborating in the same editorial purpose. Since the starting point, readers were able to access articles written by lecturers and students, both sharing the same forum of discussion on legal sciences. In a few time later, Professor Maria Aurea Cecato became editor-in-chief. She was assuming office for the edition of the second semester of 2004. More and more the journal was getting improvements in editorial performance and scientific impacts along its trajectory. Strong efforts were undertaken by Aurea Cecato involving colleagues from Brazil and abroad, meanwhile the journal would bring to public some excellent discussions on international law, human rights, and economic law. In the end of her tenure in office, the journal achieved an important status once it was ranked as a recommended scientific media on the lists published by the Qualis CAPES, an official list of journals created by the Brazilian Ministry of Education according to the opinion issued by the leaders of Graduate Programs across the country. Upon her period of leadership, Aurea Cecato turned the editor-in-chief function over to Ernesto Pimentel who launched the whole collection of the editions on the portal of electronic journals at the Universidade Federal da Paraíba. He invited colleagues to be part of the Editorial Board and created the statute of the journal which can be read on this website. Few years later, Qualis CAPES formally acknowledged the excellence of Prim@ Facie journal which achieved the grade B2. The current editor-in-chief is Ernesto Pimentel. Prim@ Facie is a promising journal in Law.
