Abstract

Self-composed procedures have particularities that require skills from the facilitator, especially regarding communication and the tools used during the procedure. However, it is clear that there is a lack of  training for mediators and conciliators regarding the soft skills necessary for the proper management of conflicts. In view of this scenario, the adoption of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) by these professionals is presented as a viable alternative, as it has several elements that seem to supply this lack. Therefore, the objective of this article was to analyze to what extent the theory of Nonviolent Communication can contribute to the proper use of selftpcomposed tools and for the improvement of the culture of consensus. The methodology was supported by bibliographic and documental research, based on the hypothetical-deductive method. It was concluded that Nonviolent Communication allows contributions to self-composed techniques, in order to complement them in terms of socio-emotional aspects.
