Teaching Portuguese as an Additional Language (PAL) in Egypt is gaining prominence, especially in higher education institutions. Portuguese language departments in Egypt are pivotal in promoting and developing language teaching. A notable example is the Portuguese language department at the University of Aswan. In this article, I reflect on the importance of teaching Portuguese as an additional language in Egypt, emphasizing its growth in the context of higher education. It explores the difficulties Egyptian students face when learning Portuguese and provides proposals and suggestions to support the growth of Portuguese language teaching in Egypt and Brazil
