This article discusses the current state of academic production on the field of Teaching of Portuguese for Foreigners, in particular, with regard to how researches are explicitly related to specialized teacher's training. For accomplishing this, it took as support contributions that discuss the expansion of the field (ALMEIDA FILHO, 2011; LUNA, 2012); teacher's training (ALARCÃO, 1996; SHULMAN, 1986; NÓVOA, 1992, 2019; GATTI, 2010); and the training of teacher of Portuguese for Foreigners (MONROIG, 1992; MADRID, 2004; BIZARRO, 2012). It updates the data of a previous research produced with the same v bv. (RIBEIRO; RIBEIRO; BAPTISTA, 2016) which revealed that, although this filed has been consolidating and gaining space, academic production was still timid. Aiming to think about the status of teacher's training in the area by mapping the investigation tendencies of the theses and dissertations available on CAPES Portal, it extended the period of the investigated publications until 2022. Methodologically, it is inspired by the principles of “state-of-the-art surveys” (FERREIRA, 2002) and organizes data according to the following categories: linguistic and cultural studies and/or studies on teaching and learning; studies on educational policies and affirmative actions, and historiographical bias; and studies on the of training of teachers of Portuguese for foreigners. The conclusion points out that teacher's training is little contemplated by academic production and indicates it is dispersed and distanced from the first milestones that characterized the area. Portuguese for Foreigners is now closer to other areas that were apparently of little interest or incompatible.
