Perspectives on gender within radical feminism

There have been multiple understandings of the term gender in today's society, and they denote different social positions. Gender can be seen as synonymous of a biological sex, performativity, or even part of an ideology that aims to overthrow traditional values. This term has even generated conflicts between sectors of feminism, such as radical feminism and transfeminism. This means that clashes around this term reflect the possibility of insertion or exclusion in society. With that in mind, in this article I seek to investigate how specifically radical feminism has explored the concept of gender. For this, 295 articles from the QG Feminista portal were classified using the IRAMUTEQ software and analyzed considering the perspective of Michel Foucault's discourse analysis. In general, it was possible to perceive that the various themes raised around the idea of gender are intertwined with the fundamental notion that separates men and women based on a bio-logical discourse, and that different perspectives of this vision are read in a hostile way. Gender, in this sense, concerns social expectations and behavior of bodies that, in the end, have already been gendered.
