OCCLUSION IN DIAGNOSTIC WAX

Abstract

Objective: To review the literature on the diagnostic wax-up, regarding the diagnostic wax, covering the need of the same, the occlusal anatomy and to determine that there is a perfect harmony with the jaw movements, and various forms of cooking. Methodology: Searches were performed in the PubMed and Scielo databases, CAPES and Research Gates from March 2009 to August 2011. The studies were selected for reading and analysis of titles, abstracts and full papers. Results: Nine studies were part of the critical content analysis, among which 4 showed significant differences between the techniques of making. Conclusion: The diagnostic wax-up is crucial for oral rehabilitation in several ways, such as helping the dentist done in steps, providing a complete view of the work to be done for future referrals to other professionals (maxillofacial surgeon, periodontist, endodontist, implantologist, orthodontist and prosthodontist) because an oral rehabilitation is multidisciplicar, as a guide during cooking and even to explain to the patient regarding the rehabilitation and completion. With the benefits of pre-planning, identification of patients with the treatment, an integration between the areas of dentistry, occlusal stability and balance of the stomatognathic system.
