PHYSIOTHERAPEUTIC REHABILITATION FOLLOWING ACL RECONSTRUCTION IN COMBINATION WITH BEHAVIORAL PLATELET-RICH PLASMA: A CASE REPORT

Abstract

Objective: To present the case of a patient who underwent surgical reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) associated with the technique of platelet rich plasma (PRP). Material and Methods: The patient underwent 48 physiotherapy sessions, held twice a week, based on biomechanical and sensorimotor recovery. Results: At the end of the first month of treatment, the patient began proprioceptive exercises of the lower limbs with total discharge weight on the affected knee. Three months postoperatively, the patient could jump with one-leg support and began plyometric training on grass. Six months after reconstruction, the patient was discharged from physical therapy presenting active ROM in knee flexion of 145° to the right leg, muscle strength grade V in the right thigh muscle groups and recreational activity with return to football. Conclusion: The combination of the PRP technique potentiated the process of rehabilitation in ACL reconstruction. DESCRIPTORS Physical Therapy Specialty. General Surgery. Platelet-Rich Plasma. Knee
