INTEGRATION BETWEEN FAMILY AND COMMUNITY MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAMS IN THE STATE OF PERNAMBUCO THROUGH VIDEOCONFERENCING
Abstract
Introduction: videoconferencing is a dynamic way to connect geographically distant people and promote meetings for clinical and professional improvement. Objective: this report aims to describe the experience of videoconferencing as part of the Residency Programs in Family and Community Medicine in the state of Pernambuco (Universidade Federal de Pernambuco – UFPE, Universidade de Pernambuco – UPE e Universidade do Vale do São Francisco - UNIVASF) to overcome communication barriers. Material and Methods: videoconference meetings were held weekly to discuss clinical cases, as well as public policies and related topics. Results: The idea of person-centered medicine was addressed in all meetings, both in the approaches and in the debates on the method itself. Presentation of clinical cases provided demands to further study pending questions using the learning objectives. Videoconferencing is an important tool to approach these programs of Medical Residency, enabling virtual contact through real-time audio and video interfaces. The integration of these weekly moments provided discussions of common areas (metropolitan and hinterland), enabling better performance in relation to the reality of the population served. In addition, it allowed a virtual exchange between preceptors and residents creating a fertile area for sharing ideas. Conclusion: the exchange of experiences through videoconferencing should be permanent to consolidate the bond between these three programs, thus strengthening the network of primary healthcare in the state of Pernambuco and the assistance provided to the population.
