Abstract

Objective: To analyze the perception of primary healthcare managers from the municipalities that comprise the 11th Regional Coordination of Health (CRES) headquartered in Sobral-CE, about graduates of a multidisciplinary residency in family health (MRFH). Material and Methods: This was a descriptive exploratory study with a qualitative approach. The sample consisted of 27 primary care managers from Sobral macro-region, which comprises 55 municipalities. Data collection was performed using the tool Google Docs by means of an electronic questionnaire addressing the pedagogical proposal of the 8th class of Sobral MRFH, which was sent by email to all primary care managers in all municipalities. Results: In the regional context, only three municipalities had graduates of a MRFH as part of the team working in the primary care level. The managers demonstrated to be willing to hire graduates of a MRFH program, as they consider as satisfactory the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the higher education professionals working in primary care. Conclusion: despite the discourse of valuing in-service training, the absorption of graduates for this position is still low in the context of primary healthcare in the state of Ceará. This is in contract with the fact that the certified MRFH professionals have the quality and training necessary to modify the reality of the community, as they have the needed skills to work in the Family Health Strategy.
