SINGULAR THERAPEUTIC PROJECT: AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH FOR A USER WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES
Abstract
Objective: To report the experience of undergraduate students participating in the Education Program for Health Work (Care Network for Persons with Disabilities) in a family health unit, for the development and implementation of a Singular Therapeutic Project (STP). The STP is understood as a potentiating, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach encompassing different experiences with care. Reporting Experience: the idea of developing a STP, which was an initiative of the PET undergraduate students together with the health team, appeared before the need to assist a larger number of people in the community with physical disabilities, living in a biopsychosocial context of extreme vulnerability. After accomplishing home visits and identifying the eligibility criteria – possibility of improving the quality of life, complex family context, identified needs, and especially the individual need to overcome difficulties – we selected a 15 year-old boy diagnosed with spastic diplegia. Comments: the implementation of the STP with the aid of the Family Health Team was a challenging and very rewarding experience, which enabled the exchange of knowledge between different areas and professionals. In addition, it served as an instrument for academic training and encouraged the team to work on permanent education. It is worth noting that the STP is designed to be a continuous process of planning, monitoring and assessment. Several goals have been achieved, but there is much more to be done. We believe that we should be multipliers of such proposals, in order to change the reality and practice settings where health professionals are being trained. DESCRIPTORS Cerebral Palsy.
