PROFILE OF THE GROUP OF ELDERLY EPIDEMIOLÓGY FHU CHRIST THE KING - JOÃO PESSOA, PB
Abstract
The group of elderly "Walking with Jesus" from the Family Health Unit (FHU) Christ the King has as its mission the achievement of integration and inclusion of the elderly in social looking, applying and experiencing the Statute of the Elderly in its essence, promoting health and quality of life. The objectives of this study is to identify the epidemiological profile and reflect on the benefits that the elderly have as members of this group. This is a quantitative study, exploratory and descriptive. The place of study was the FHU of Christ the King, located in João Pessoa / PB, the population of this study consists of 75% of elderly participants of the "walking with Jesus." We followed the ethical observances of Resolution 196/96 of the National Health Council, and the data collection was conducted through a questionnaire in December 2008. The data were analyzed and organized using the resources of Microsoft Excel 2007. The results were that the largest age group is between 61 and 70 years (43.3%), 70% are women, 6.8% have no wage income. With respect to the elderly group: 50% received the invitation of community health agents, 53% reported increase in the bond with the FHU, 27% participate and / or assist the Christ King Band. The work of the group of older people toward the Promotion of Health, aims to break with social bankruptcy, which leads to depression associated with the aging process.
