Resumo

Despite tolerance to very high concentrations of salinity, sudden drop in temperature has a profound effect on Artemia salina causing 30 - 34% deaths at 12-14 and 14-16ºC within 24 hours. They need thermal acclimatization. Artemia readily responds to increased pressure by upward swimming and to decreased pressure by downward swimming. Their responses are orientated to gravity alone, and they are negatively phototactic irrespective of the direction of illumination. Their pessure sensitivity broadly conforms to that of depth-regulatory in sense.
