Abstract

The mothers of children born with the Zika Virus Congenital Syndrome are the main agents in the handling and daily care of children. Throughout ethnographic research, we have noticed how the attendance of psychologists and psychiatrists for these mothers has intensified, as well as the frequency of narratives about the consumption of antidepressants and drugs designed to “calm the nerves”. Here, we intend to reflect on the antidepressant and anxiolytic drugs consumed by these caregivers, relating them to the category of tiredness, central to their narratives.
