Abstract

: Covid-19 is a highly infectious disease that has caused health systems to collapse around the world and in some Brazilian states. The objective of the study is to unveil the meanings produced about deaths due to Covid-19 in Brazil, based on the narratives and experiences of the families of fatal victims. A bibliographic review, on a qualitative basis, was carried out in the period between March 16 and April 26, 2020, based on digital journalistic articles of great national circulation. Five journalistic stories of the fatal victims of COVID-19 were analyzed, most of the victims were 60 years of age or older, had comorbidities, the death occurred in the hospital and the duration of the rituals was reduced in relation to the usual ones. In the narratives, there was a feeling of pain and suffering due to the impossibility of leaving the family.
