Abstract

This essay seeks to present situations experienced by family groups of Tekoa Ywy Porã (PR) in the midst of the current pandemic of the coronavirus, drawing an initial parallel with the historical situations which they went through, as well as the memory of the yellow fever epidemic of 1930. The reflections presented were based on knowledge acquired through the experience of one of the authors, indigenous, such as Guarani Nhandewa of this Tekoa and the field experience of the non-indigenous author in this same location. Based on these dialogues, we can observe the repetition of an inefficient policy towards ethnic specificities and indigenous groups in the case of viral diseases, which causes enormous concern about the possibility of a repeat of genocide, and the pratice, as a strategy in this regard, the collective social isolation based on spiritual strengthening.
