Abstract

Considering tourism studies as a fruitful field for multisited ethnographies (Marcus (1995), this article aims to present the course of a journey into discovering of favela tourism as a multisited field. For that, it presents the journey of a young researcher across the borders of the expansion of favela tourism in the context of megaevents, retraction in the immediately following period, reaching the borders of the so-called virtual tourism in the new coronavirus pandemic, in 2020. Allied to mobile methods (Buscher et al., 2011), this multisited ethnography reveals itself as an important and appropriate form to register an empirical object in constant movement like favela tourism.
