Abstract

ABSTRACT:
This ethnographic account is based on fieldwork conducted with members of my family from 2019 to 2022. From the field, I initiated an analysis of how product returns made throughout the field circulated within the family sphere. When returning various forms of publications, I noticed that they elicited diverse reactions among
my family-interlocutors. Dissertations, articles, and drawings generated almost no impact within the family circle, whereas photographs and videos from the research took on the additional role of “family photos”. These images resonated in different ways among my family-interlocutors, acting as mechanisms for generating prestige,
memories, and material for personal publications on social networks. This ethnographic account seeks to analyze how different types of research materials returned to the family-field generate various effects within the family and, consequently, on the research itself.
