Acesso e disponibilização de e-books pelas bibliotecas universitárias

Abstract

In the face of current technological advances, the adoption of e-books by university libraries is still a factor to be explored, once these ones do not exist or they are not available in their collections due to technical difficulties, whether they are access, financial or even due to lack of knowledge and fear regarding the formats offered by the Brazilian publishing market. Because of this, it was necessary a research to identify the points that guide the selection and adoption of this type of material, mainly because of the increasing of the collection and consequent ease of access by their users. Through bibliographic analysis, it was identified that, beyond being a topic with few studies developed in Brazil, most of these studies are still dealing with information, analysis and content based on experiences and applications in libraries outside the country. With such different realities among foreign countries and Brazil, essential points need to be raised, such as the use and access of technologies, besides the necessary investments for the acquisition of material, training and qualification of the team to deal with these items and the consequent training of the user to be able to use this resource offered by the institution.
