The present work aims to present a study on indexing within the FamilySearch genealogical platform, created by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and considered the largest in the segment. The objective was to analyze which resources and methods are used in the platform to index. For this, it was necessary to analyze the steps of the process, the necessary resources, the objectives of the institution and its difficulties. It was possible to identify that FamilySearch performs a pre-treatment of documents before they are made available for indexing, in addition to supporting volunteers in this process. The initiative of the work developed by the church came from the interest in carrying out genealogical research to implement practices related to the principles of salvation established by belief. Difficulties related to the volume of materials for indexing, the age of the documents worked, the quality of the indexing software and the preparation of volunteers were identified.
