Its approaches the subject representation from the student perspective. It aims to provide an overview of how students see the teaching of subject representation and its application in the labor market. It seeks to present a broader view on the subject and encourage a look at the formative character practiced in this fundamental dimension in information organization. It is a descriptive and qualitative-quantitative research, developed under the case study method through the application of an online questionnaire to students of the Librarianship course at the Universidade Federal de Goiás, graduates of subjects in the area of subject representation. The results indicate that the processes of subject representation are largely assimilated by the students, especially the bibliographic classification, as well as the classification systems emerge as the best understood instrument and the classification notation as the product of better understanding via teaching practiced in the thematic axis.
