Abstract
With the development of information technologies and the growing demand for web retrieval, there is an increase in the volume of information resource retrieval services and systems, driven by data and document management in all areas of knowledge. This report aimed to present the Virtual Health Nursing Library Portal (BVS Nursing Portal) and its information retrieval system in the Nursing Database (BDENF) database, highlighting resources and functionalities offered to users and researchers in the development of their practices and scientific research. The study is characterized as applied research, of a descriptive and exploratory nature, with a qualitative approach, which analyzed the resources and functionalities of the BVS Portal in the light of quantitative models of information retrieval from the literature, in the context of the health and nursing area, in the second half of 2023. It was observed that the BVS Nursing Portal and its research method, in terms of SRI, is compatible with the literature model, and if well explored and used by users and researchers, is capable of effectively responding to the needs informational. It is concluded that the sources of information and research tools on the BVS Nursing Portal are useful in the process of retrieving information today. As future work, it is suggested to compare with other Portals and propose new resources for continuous improvement of the Portal.
