Abstract

This article aims to present the works that are part of the dossier and at the same time to reflect on the construction of the identity of albino people and the feelings and sharing of their trajectories, strategies and experiences, thereby problematizing beyond a biological/medical perspective and instead discussing from the viewpoint of the Human Sciences, Cultural and Decolonial Studies. It is worth noting that all works have a common thread that unites them, that is, the identity processes and the collective and individual feelings (albinitude and albinity) about being an albino person, in addition to considering how State, Science, the world of work, Associations, Laws, subjectivity, fashion/advertising and Western/racial discourses also act on these people. In conclusion, albino people seek recognition and public policies to strengthen the group and to thereby attain greater visibility in society. Talking about identity is thinking about assigned, self-assigned, inherited and shared identity.
