“A FRAGMENT OF LIBIDO AND THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE WORLD”: elements for a philosophical anthropology from Theodor Adorno

Abstract

This text is about the approach of aspects by a philosophical anthropology from T. Adorno elaboration about ideology and experience under late capitalism. To develop this argument it is necessary (I) to briefly present the interpretation and place of ideology in Adorno's theoretical composition and then (II) indicate that the Adorno understanding of an unachievable human condition, especially under capitalism, is the true historical continuum and then (III) outline how the relationship between the constitution of a personality structure and the human condition itself, result of the intersection between critical theory and psychoanalysis, are fundamental to a critique of capitalism necessarily intertwined with a critique of subjectivity. To get the objectives indicated, a theoretical review was carried out, from the texts of Theodor Adorno and analyses of contemporary commentators, highlighting his critical conclusions about the notion of subjectivity in the social theory of his time — especially psychology and psychoanalysis — mixed with his permanent criticism of ideology as the basic aspect of his criticism of capitalism.
