This article proposes a reflection on the relevance and challenges for implementation of new technologies for public administration at the municipal level. This is an exploratory case study on the information control system adopted by the City of Natal / RN, this adoption being even more recent during the course of a study. A survey was conducted through semi-structured interviews with key actors involved in the process of design/creation/formulation this management tool. The results demonstrate that there was a need to modernize information management for decision making between municipal departments, in addition to an associated need to reduce costs, that motivated the adoption of the tool. Despite the perception that the system has produced a significant response in relation to the proposed objectives, the interviewees also indicate that there are organizational and institutional barriers, in the way that public workers pass through workers who change their routines and procedures to work with this technique.
