Contextos da justiça: filosofia política para além de liberalismo e comunitarismo é, sem dúvida, uma obra de amplo espectro, na medida em que discute virtualmente questões de grande relevância para quem pretende apreender um conceito de justiça numa sociedade complexa e pluralista como a nossa. Rainer Forst investiga o tema ao largo de uma década aproximadamente e procura colocar de forma explícita a discussão em torno de questões que envolvem teorias da justiça e as várias tentativas de equacionar tais aporias. O autor considera, inicialmente, a justiça como a virtude político-moral mais elevada, mas admite que cada época ou cultura elege algo como justo. Assume, como proposta ideológica da sua obra, o conceito de justiça político e social fundamentada moralmente.
