SOCIAL BODY AND BODY CAPITAL: CONSIDERATIONS BASED ON PIERRE BOURDIEU'S SOCIOLOGICAL THEORY.

This paper aims to discuss how the discussions of the social body and corporal capital are developed in the writings of the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu. It begins with considerations about the body and its social construction, making a connection with the main concepts of the author, highlighting the habitus and the incorporation of the provisions made in the socialization processes in the social fields and showing, from the perspective of the symbolic goods economy, the discussions on corporeal capital, in which corporeal properties are understood as capital for the attainment of social profits. The chapter concludes by discussing the body capital and the investment in the body, pointing out in a practical way the possibility of observing this type of capital and with the extract of the final considerations, which cover some arguments pointed out throughout the publication with the intention of closing.
