THE TEACHING OF PHILOSOPHY:
IS THERE STILL ROOM FOR PHILOSOPHICAL ACTIVITY?

The aim of the paper is to analyze two crucial problems for philosophy teaching in Brazil. The first is external to philosophy, because it concerns the Brazilian political scenario. This one has the approval of BNCC like a challenge for offering philosophy. Another challenge is about the educational policies defended since the government Dilma Rousseff. The second is internal, because it concerns to the own way of teaching philosophy, in how the philosophical contents are presented to the students of the basic education. It is intended to outline necessary actions to the tackling these issues, which involve the confrontation of ideologies of the governing group of the country and an action to evaluate the offer of philosophy teaching.
