THE WHOLE AND THE PARTS:
APPROACH TO MEREOLOGY

The objective of this article is to expose the philosophical roots of Mereology, as well as its scientific solvency, its philosophical relevance and its current importance in the most diverse fields. Without this implying turning away from logic, but without leaving Mereology limited to its development and applications in that specific field. Through the different approaches that are taken into consideration in this work, it becomes evident in its full radicalism that, in very different fields, the study of the relationships between a totality and its components is as difficult and complex as it is essential, despite the numerous controversies that have arisen around this.
