THE RELATION BETWEEN FANTASY AND OBSESSIVE NEUROSIS

The present article aims to clarify some fundamental conceptions that constitute fantasy in its intimate connection with the formation of the Subject, such as the fixation on a traumatic scene and the demonstrative effect of transference. Circumscribing the investigation to the particularity of obsessive neurosis, the content apprehended on the analysis of fantasy will be helpful as an investigative basis to point out in the structure of obsessive neuroses how fantasy gets in relation with it. Elements fundamental to the obsession will be pointed out, such as doubt and rationalization. The paradigmatic case of the Rat Man (1909) will be the territory of study over which fantasy will be conceived in its connection with obsessive neurosis.
